Default Thread Closed?

I was just getting ready to reply to a comment on the VTX Made in America thread when I noticed it has been closed. Is this what we really want to do? Silence anything that is not pro-harley? When I seen this I instantly thought of this quote:

"Don't think you're going to conceal faults by concealing evidence that they ever existed. Don't be afraid to go in your library and read every book, as long as any document does not offend our own ideas of decency. That should be the only censorship.

How will we defeat communism unless we know what it is, what it teaches, and why does it have such an appeal for men, why are so many people swearing allegiance to it? It's almost a religion, albeit one of the nether regions.

And we have got to fight it with something better, not try to conceal the thinking of our own people. They are part of America. And even if they think ideas that are contrary to ours, their right to say them, their right to record them, and their right to have them at places where they're accessible to others is unquestioned, or it's not America.

—Dwight David Eisenhower"

Cool Thread Closed

Well, Knucklehead, you should have noticed the thread is still up there to read (it hasn't been censored). It just degenerated into a waste of server space, which somebody has to pay for.

Ooops... my bad! Wrong quote mate. Here's a more appropriate one:

"The peculiar evil of silencing the expression of an opinion is, that it is robbing the human race; posterity as well as the existing generation; those who dissent from the opinion, still more than those who hold it. If the opinion is right, they are deprived of the opportunity of exchanging error for truth: if wrong, they lose, what is almost as great a benefit, the clearer perception and livelier impression of truth, produced by its collision with error.

- John Stuart Mill"

The short answer is that the thread was started with malicious intent... not becuase there was no value in the opinion. Some jack@$$ wanted to pick a fight. That thread was just poison. If you would like to start another thread about the merits of Japanese engineering, I think that would be a fine idea. I'm sure you will find you get many of the same opinions echoed, and I'm sure the spirit of the thread would be considerably more civil since you seem like a reasonable fellow.

John 1:14

It is the duty of nations, as well as of men, to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions, in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon; and to recognize the sublime truth announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the LORD.

I took note of the lack of reply and that both threads posted on were either VTX or FG related.

I wish! I have a Street Glide and a VTX... the wife has a Dyna Wide Glide. I did however have the pleasure of riding a knucklehead on several ocassions. My friend who's an MD, has one that his dad willed to him. I believe it's a WWII bike, I think 1945? Looks very sweet!

Knucklehead- Hmmmm.... Lets see..... I have an understanding that you like to share, "Sharing is good" Points of Post Origination with the likes of Jester, NightT and Unclebigbad. They have all been banned. Good thing is you have not stepped on yer crank like they did.

So welcome with open arms. I mean it! Enjoy the folks and what this site has to offer. However. If you get out of line you will be escorted out of the sand box Tute Sweet! K?
