It started when we had a denial of service attack where SPAMmers or hackers were running a lot of searches, which slowed the site to a crawl and caused the server to turn off frequently. So we cut down on the amount of searches that can be performed in a short period of time. So far it seems to work fairly well, so it will remain in effect for the forseeable future.

Question

A while back I had to change my user name (Haugster1340)and password because of something on AIM's end. Today I put in my new user name(1Haugster1340) and password that I have been using for months now. Guess what? I wasn't allowed access. So I click reset password. The email I get from AIM said that my user name is the old one, Haugster1340. Now my name has an asterick beside it on the line that shows who is currently on using the site. Why does my name have the asterick beside it? Does this have something to do with the 30 second rule?

What reason was given for why you had to change yopur name? As far as I know we have never asked anyone to change their username. Who asked you to do it? It looks like now you are a guest because you didn't reply to the confirmation email we send you on registering. This whole thing is wierd because it doesn't happen to any of our other users. I also don't see any asterisks by your name, so I'm guessing it is probably a browser screw up that is caussing this. You might try deleting your cache and resetting the page.

There was something changed on AIM's end that caused me not to be able to log in under with my user name and password. I was not the only one who was having this problem as I read of others having the same problem as I was. I do not recall who advised me to reregister. I did not search the forum to find out who told me this but it was posted in a thread. I tried to reregister but the message kept coming up that someone alreay had this user id (me) So I registered as 1haugster1340 with a new password. The other day I was unable to log in using 1haugster and new password. So I tried haugster1340 and my old password and whaalaa...I was able to enter but only as a guest. I did not recieve any confirmation email since I changed to 1haugster1340, which was months ago and it was working fine until the other day. Please advise. Thanks
