Question Security System FLHTCU

I just purchased a 2008 FLHTCU. The manual tells how to change the pin, but when I follow the instructions, the existing PIN does not come up in the odometer window. The signal doesn't flash 3 times. Having trouble finding the PIN and changing it.

What may be your problem. When turning the ignition key (IGNITION-OFF-IGNITION-OFF-IGNITION) this must be done quickly or the operation will be cancelled. Also be sure the fob is present. I hope this helps.

Do you know for sure the dealer put one in?

I had a terrible time trying to enter numbers ('03 heritage... don't know if it's the same system) the way I thought it worked... turned out I was wrong.

If it was me, I'd check to see if the manual has a seperate procedure for 1st time code entry. That may be why no number comes up.

Take care, good luck, let me know what happens!

94, I think the security system changed after '06. My '06 security system is manual, while the '07 Sportster has an automatic system that arms itself when the key fob is moved away from the bike.

I'm guessing that upnorthwi is correct that setting the PIN must be done quickly and with the fob in place.

No doubt the system has changed.

It seemed that he was saying the ORIGINAL pin was never displayed. Leading me to believe it was never entered by the dealer. Even with an auto-arm system, the owner is still able to put a personal code in, right? I hope so. Guess we won't know til he gets back with us.

If the IGNITION-OFF sequence is not performed quickly the operation is cancelled and no pin will show. I believe a pin must be entered by the dealer for the bike to start. Yes with a auto-alarm system, the owner is able to put a personal code in.

Thanks to (upnorthwi) and rest of you guys for responding. By turning the ignition key quickly fix my problem. There was a PIN already in system, it was 12345, which I changed to my own personal one. Again, thanks GUYS.
