Hey Damage

Apology not accepted..! OR needed...!!

We all make a goof once in awhile..

You know of course that it states in the site rules (3-.26) "...a member may make no more than one goof in a 45 day period or sacrifice a jelly doughnut..

I am very very careful..

Default Re: Gel Cell battery

CO Winters ruin batteries. Since I can remember, I have always used a battery tender. That seems to work for me. I have a charging issue at this point but at least something is charging the battery! When I was going through Airframe and Powerplant school they told us the history of the gel cell. They said they were invented for fighter aircraft that flew 3D. Whenever they were inverted the acid would run out ruining the avionics. Enter the gel cell.

Since the battery in my bike was already 2yrs old when I got the bike. I replaced it with an AGM (advanced gas mat) technology battery. It is a step above a regular battery and a step below a gel cell. I am hoping with a tuned up charging system the AGM battery will carry my FLHTC. The one thing my research did indicate was that the AGM batteries didnt like to sit for days and days on end without some sort of charge going into it. Again, when I ride hopefully the repaired charging system will work. Then during the Winter, the battery tender will take over the duties.
