LED Fuel gauge on 06 Deluxe

Installed the flush mount gauge and cap on the wifes 06 Deluxe. TRouble is, when the instructions to run a new (gray) wire from the connctor to the speedo are followed the existing low fuel light on the speedo is on full time, unhook it, still on, plug the original (yellow) wire back in, still on.

Any ideas on how to get this light to turn off?
