Default Wiring conversion

This is one hell of a way to learn about wiring.

I have been asked to convert a 2000 RoadGlide (fuel injected) to a Road King. No problem getting the tin together. But looking at the electrical diagrams in the Service manual I can see a bit of difference in the wiring of the two models.

Start with replacing main harness? Modify main harness? Modify interconnects?
ebay is a good source.

Anyone has any how-tos or info chime in please. I need all the help I can get.

This project is a wish of my best bud's widow. She wants to ride his bike, just doesn't like the RoadGlide fairing or for that matter any fairing. Bike was salvaged, with no damage to frame, engine or suspension, only cosmetics

Leave the main harness. Do all your changes on the component side of the main harness.

I would make adaptors from the wiring harness to the components. It'll be time consuming, but if you go step by step and wire for wire, it'll be more teadious than difficult.

If I remember correctly, the changes aren't that many, and you have plenty of room inside the Road King headlight nacelle to keep your adaptors.

Ok, all wiring from main harness has been tagged. (Sweet mother Mary, that's an excersize in frustration)
I'm thinking Packard connectors. Overkill maybe?

Packard makes nice water proof connectors. I like them. I like the Deutsch connectors too. They are nice and easy to work with, like the packards.

Whichever you can get cheaper are fine, as far as I can tell.

Tagging the wires is the hardest part, fwiw.

A wiring diagram makes this more teadious than frustrating.
