Default Loose Battery Wire

I am curious if a loose connection to the battery could cause real damage or just make the bike run funny. Never read anything about this in the Harley magazine, so I figured I'd ask here.

I was trying to charge a battery with a smart charger and it would charge then it wouldn't depending on where I wiggled the wire.

Could this kill my battery charger and then drain the battery, cause that's what I think happened the other day.

Hey Bar

I doubt very much that it'll harm the smart charger but it is Not a good thing to have a wire that makes contact sometimes and then NOT..

Find the break in that wire and get that wire fixed..
It is not a strong connection and will eventually leave you on the side of the road..
And yes, definately it can make the motor run funny..

Just like always, I'm speaking from experience.. It's happened to me..!

Whenever you have a poor connection it is like running a air conditioner on a small extension cord. Something is going to get hot. It can burn up your battery terminals, burn up your wires, burn up your solenoid, burn up your starter.
How old is your battery?
Is the loose wire in the battery charger or the bike?
