Smart charger battery in bike all winter. Have been doing that 4 over 5 seasons with no issues whatsoever.

Instead of riding the 9 miles to work and back every day, I rode to the Harley dealer in Lafayette at about 32 miles. This gives the bike a better chance to catch up on charging the battery from the starts and short rides every day.

I try to ride my bike in the winter at least once a month. If thats not possible I will throw it on the smart charger.

Before the advent of the battery tender out it would come and into the basement perched on a 2x4 to keep it off the cement and charge it once a month and had good longevity. I still do that with the old bike, and a smart charger stays on the 07 for 6 months of the year.

I went and bought 2 new battery tenders for my 2 bikes. my orignal one is on a car I am working on. the bike almost didnt want to start the other day, so I guess I wasnt rotating the 1 charger between the 3 vehicles enough. So now I have one on each battery and the bikes will be ready when I am.

Same for me. I remember the days of pulling batteries.... don't miss that.

But for me... when I'm not on the bike the battery tender is. All year round.

I rode year round when I lived in Salem Oregon. Did it for 4 years. Jack Daniels helped me thru the coldest days. I didnt even own leathers, and only wore a helmet once in a while when it rained, or snowed. A street bike in the snow is real fun.
I never used a battery tender till I got a second bike, and i just cant ride them both....
