Re: Sportster spits and sputters 1999 Sportster 883 backfires, shuts down after a few miles (engine is warmed). Does this 2 or 3 times then is fine for the remainder of a 30 or so mile ride. Sits for a couple hours then the same scenario. Have had the bank angle sensor replaced (at an H-D dealer-their diagnosis) did the same thing after a day or two, took it back, they replaced a cracked vacuum line on the carburetor inlet, same scenario again a day later! I've heard it could be the ignition module (was told it was discussed on this forum awhile back) The bike is not mine, it belongs to my nephew, was storing it for him and rode it for a month. Has 30,000 miles on the odometer. Any ideas? dealer hasn't figured it out yet!
