Re: Charging Hi NP
Just for the heck of it----- what Mod/year sickle..? It matters..
What check/s did you perform on the stator.?
Did you check continuity from the pins to ground (motor, frame, etc.).?
If there was any reading (continuity) what-so-ever you must replace the stator..
Did you check Ohm's between the pins.?
It shoulda been between .2 - .4 OR .1 - .12 Ohm's depending on year, of course taking into consideration the Ohm's of the meters wires.. Some meters adjust for that, some don't..
Did you check AC voltage directly from the stator.?
It should be about 20 AC volts per 1,000 Rpm's..
You may very well know how to perform these tests but, since you didn't specify, I gotta ask..
The milky Primary fluid----
Umm, why did you drain the fluid and NOT do anything else if you thought the stator was bad.??
If fluid wasn't leaking out how could water get in..?
Are you sure it wasn't just whipped up with foam,, it doesn't need water to do that..
Just for heck of it,,,, what does your motor oil look like.?
Hopefully there's no transfer through a bad sprocket-shaft oil seal..
I personally do not think the condition of the fluid has any bearing on your charging prob..
A shorted out stator can be a Bad Actor,, often working intermittantly..
If you didn't perform the tests as I described,,,, do it now..
