Default radio "click"

Trying to button up the 86 Electraglide.
I found that when I have the radio on and hit the brakes (front or back) or the turn signals I get a "click" through the speakers. The grounds at the radio seem good. The book shows the red and yellow wire both going through a block called the " power interrpt system" but on this, only the yellow wire goes thru and the red feeds direct to the radio. Don't know if this is to filter the power????? Any help would be appreciated.

The stereo power is fed through the center terminal (normally closed) on the starter relay. When you push the start button the center terminal is open (no power) this was done to protect the stereo from voltage spikes, the yellow wire is station preset & clock memory & has to have uninterrupted power.I would check your relay grounds (starter & brake light relays) as well as all the connections to both.

I talked to a guy from Radio Sound today. Being an 86, they will not look at or service the radio. But he suggested that the problem may be the voltage is to low....I have not started the bike yet but that should provide full voltage to the radio.
I thought the choke in the yellow wire may not be working but the guy didn't think that would do it.
I hate the electric side of this..........

Is this a new problem to your bike?

They do make filters you can run inline to the radio power... sell em at radio shack even.

No, not really....I had this bright idea to put a 10 amp battery charger on, at the battery cables as a test. If I had a wiring problem, I wanted to see it before I put the fairing back on and, I figured, the charger would limit the current if there was a problem. Apparently, it was undervoltaged at the radio and I got the "clink" whenever there was current flow....stupid
