Question Blowing Fuse for Speedometer

Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum here. I have an 06 HD sportster 883c. I recently changed out the handle bars to some mini ape hangers and did internal wiring. I did it all myself, cause i didn't want to pay a bunch of money for the dealer to do it for me. everything worked out great, and looks awesome, but i am having problems with blowing the fuse that controls the blinkers, brake light and speedometer/odometer. I have gone through the entire job thoroughly to see if i can find any touching/exposed wires, but have come up with nothing. if there is anyone out there that knows where i can start to look for the problem, it would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!!!

Welcome to the forum. we all like to do our own work here, so I bet someone here knows your bike better than me,

but in the meantime, it sounds like you have the right idea, looking over your work to find the short. It has to be there, can you "nudge" each wire while watching for signs of the short? if it has been popping fuses, there would possibly be a small burn mark where a wire shorted out.

If anyone else has another idea, go for it.

good luck.

Check where the wires come out of the controls.
They get pinched there a lot.
That and where the holes are for the internal wiring.
If the hole is drilled then it can have a real sharp burr inside of the bars, and can rub a wire bare in short order.
A hole file, does wonders there.
Finding a intermittent ground can be a real challenge.
Let us know.
