Default Ultraclassic Intercom

My intercom developed a problem about 800 miles into our trip.

everything works normally, except my wife can't hear me.

When I talk, the radio mutes, VOX turns on, but she doesn't hear me, (she probably likes that :-) Her volume is turned up.

She can hear the radio and GPS.

She has a Harley speaker/headphone setup, and I have an aftermarket unit.

The intercom has worked fine up to now.

I cleaned the DIN connector contacts with some Radio Shack electronic cleaner, no help.

I have cleaned and checked the contacts on my unit, the Harley speaker and headphones are a sealed unit.

I'm leaning towards a bad connection on one of the DIN pins. If I swap how we plug in, ( I plug my set into the rear plug, and hers into the riders front plug, the problem remains the same.

Of course, my electrical manual is 950 miles away, does anyone have any suggestions?

Never mind..........................

after I posted this, my wife and I were talking. She mentioned that she was letting her arms hang down on the side of the seat arms.

Went out, and sure enough, she had turned her volume for the intercom off. Got it reset, works fine.

I'm glad you found the solution and hope you are having a great trip. Post a "report" with pictures when you get home, we would all enjoy it.

I'll post a trip reoprt when we get back. I'll throw in some pics. My wife and I totaled miles for the million mile ride Monday, so I'll include pics of the dealer we visited.

Quick easy fix for sure, and glad it was that easy. It's funny how simple things can mess with you.
