Default 91 Heitage evo ignition switch question

Hi All,
We've been trying to trace an electrical problem and have come to the ignition switch when we test for voltage to the switch there is voltage going in to the switch until we turn it to the on position then there is none. The switch is new. Can anyone tell me what would cause this? is there a way to test the switch to see if it is faulty? Any help would be appreciated as I am truly puzzled

Thanks in advance

Hi New

I check them like this..

Dis-connect all wires/power.. I also usually remove it and hold in my hand..
Then simply put your Ohm-Meter on Lowest Ohms and check for continuity from pole to pole AS you turn switch from position to position, especially the ON position to HOT position..

If a position shows NO continuity when you know darn well it should, you have a defective switch.. I've gotten a couple over the years so it's not Un-heard of..

I'll vouch for that......watch out in particular (not only) for the "cheap" ones.
