Default Technical Electrical Info Wanted

Hey all - the oil press gauge on my 2007 FLHX recently stopped working. The idiot light still works and is off and the engine runs fine and is not overheating so I know I have oil flow. I've also read all the threads about not needing the gauge, pressure isn't important on these engines, etc. My thing is, I don't like broken parts.

Don't want to go out and just start buying parts and throwing them at the problem ya know so the other day I checked the voltage out of the sender and it varies but I don't know what it should be.

Also checked the meter by applying a low voltage and the needle does move across the entire range of the meter.

So - any techies out there know what the output of the sender should be at different pressures (i.e. 0-10 psi, 30-40 psi, etc)???

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like there's output coming out of the oil sending unit (controls both gauge and idiot light). There are 2 wires going downstream to the right side panel. They run on the lower frame rail, terminating to a deutsch connector. Check for continuity.
To check your gauge short out the terminals, it should do a full sweep.

This may help to identify color coded wires

On the same note, take a deep breath and order the service and electrical manuals for your rig. They come in handy!
