Default Rode The Crustoration 1948 Pan Today

I feel great. The sunshine warmed up the area and I had a date with our staff photographer Bob Feather to shoot the finished 1948 "Crustoration" Panhead today. When we rolled the bike out of the storage area one of our staffers (admin, not editorial) asked if we were at least goignt o wash and wax it for the photos. We laughed and tried to explain to her that was the look we wanted. She didn't get it and went back into the office.

Because the plate had expired years ago we didn't wnwnt to ride it much on public roads, so we trucked it over tho where we wanted to photograph it. The bike fired right up after sitting for at least 2 months, smoked for a few minutes then sat there idling nicely.

I let it warm up, worked the foot clutch a few times to warm it up, slid the hand shifter into first gear and rolled on down the road. She ran great!

Here are a couple of photos to hold you over until the September issue of American Iron Magazine.

OH...MY...GAWD!!!

Buzz, that bike is amazing. Thatks for sharing it here.

I have to admit you and the team at Wheels Through Time Museum outdid yourselves this time. If you ever consider selling that motorcycle please put me at the top of the list of wishful buyers.

And how long did it take to wipe the smile off your face after riding that Pan?

Buzz. Thanks for the preview. That's an awesome looking ride. I would love to be able to put something like that together and have it actually run. I envy you guys being able to do that.
Thanks again.

I can't take the credit on building or rebuilding this machine - that goes to Dale, 2 Matts and Jim, I was just along for the ride and to take the photos.

HOWEVER, I will be the one enjoying riding this old girl around and putting plenty of miles along with my smiles on her.

I feel pretty lucky to have friends like the gang of four and for being able to own and enjoy a bike like this.

Now that the crustoration project is complete, you can find the bike on ebay with a very reasonable opening bid. It's a great deal.

The building in the background was a nice choice too....looks like a '48 vintage crustoration as well.
I really miss the Harley dealers doing business out of the classy old brick buildings...that just added to the experience in my opinion.
