Default Just finished winter project....

Hello all
I'm new to your forum...although I have been reading lots of posts.... very informative... Thank you. I started in November with my 06 Ultra Classic. It had factory dark grey with metalic paint, beautiful in the sun, but living in western Washington... sun is a rare commodity!! This made us blend into the pavement and the already proven idiots in cars had a hard time seeing us. This is my first Harley... I have owned about every other make and the last bike i had was an Aspencade. I will NEVER go back!

This is the end result.... I am very pleased with the outcome.
I changed the handlebars, braded cables and brake lines, painted inner fering, new light rings, chrome fender tip lenses and wired into the factory wiring harness my extension cable for my mp3 player that now rides in the trunk, put chrome insert in fuel tank console.
I have a better chance of being seen now!
Thanks for reading!
Dennis

Hi Bipenut

Nice work on your Ultra. Just curious, I'd like to see what your comparisons are to the Aspencade and why you prefer the Ultra. I'm not a bagger guy myself but an FXR guy. I've ridden both Goldwings and Harley baggers and I know they have some very distinct differences in their approches to the touring bike concept so, again why exactly do you prefer the Ultra?

Thank you.. and Thank you to Tbone
Well to begin with, I dont like that anoying shaft creap when hamering down on the throttle, especially in corners. The Goldwing has a higher center of gravity, the Ultra stands right back up with very little effort in corners. I also love the low end torque of the HD's. I really enjoy not sounding like a vacume cleaner or Subaru.... One of a kind Harley sound!! There is a whole lot more you can do to customize your HD than to a Goldwing, if you customize a Goldwing you still have a Goldwing....(sorry but I enjoyed my honda as much as anyone else) I am an Auto technition working in a body shop and I find it much easier to work on the Harley-Davidson than on a Goldwing, The driveablity electronics are based on the same platform as GM, and being GM trained, makes for a comfortable transition to the Harleys. Ok I'll stop rambling.
Thanks to all for reading

Dennis, nice bike I like the color, and yea you won’t get missed on that.
Got any more photos?
I know what you mean about non- Harleys, years ago my dad traded a boat he couldn’t sell for a Honda, super sport, pretty nice bike, real fast, but it just had no personality.
He ended up giving it to me, and it sat in my garage until the motor froze up
I traded it for a set of wheels.
Nothing wrong with the other bikes, but I am like you, my Harley is an extension and reflection of myself.
Makes me feel good just to look at it, know it is mine.
