Yea I know but it said in the service manual from HD that if I didnt have the race installation and removal tools to use a torch to heat em up so they expand and slide of the fork tube It worked for me plus it was just a small propane torch...not my oxy/aceteln torches...LOL....but I am wanting to get some of these tools....come on over anytime frisco if you ever in the north west at all

It looks like you're having a blast! Good stuff. Whenever I am refinishing steel or metal I prime it...then I use farm implement paint. You can spray it on if you have a compressor and paint gun. I just brush it on. It dries hard and is very tough. A couple coats and it's almost as good as powdercoat. Brushing it on leaves very few if any brush marks as well. I grew up farming so have used it alot. You can get it at Tractor Supply, your local Farmers Co-Op or Rural King. Keep up the good work and keep us up to date on your build. I'm enjoying this. Clif

Looks Good, love the builds.
I have painted a bunch of stuff, with just the small touch up guns. I have not used my big gun in years, only for a car once in a while.
They run about thirty bucks and can get them about anywhere.
Bought one on ebay for fifteen.
And they do not take much of a compressor.
Worst part is the cost of the paint, it gets pretty expensive, but in all honesty worth it.
I have been using the shop time from PPG, not too bad, but not as high end as I would like.
Anyway looks good, keep us informed.

Looks like a load of fun there Ray Ray. I come up to see my Dad in Seaside Oregon, so Maybe I'll keep on ridin' on up to see your bike. Will hafta let you know whe I plan on coming... It'll be in August.

The bike is looking great!

One thing I have done is heat up the metal to be painted, using my propane shop heater... the 30,000 btu kind. then spray the paint on, (away from the open flame duh, dont ask why I mention this). if the paint starts smoking, let it cool a little. I did a set of wheels this way for my truck... and I paint all the home made tools I make this way, and it works real well.
It's almost like powder-coat.
