Default my first build :) now with pics

whats up people I have just started my first build...It's comin around slowly but I'm takin my time...I have yet to do this so I'm just a lil worried...not to much...I've done alot of wrenchin just never on bikes...will have pics up real soon...here is a list of what I've got so far.

HD heritage softail service manual-very helpful so far-especially since I'm doin all of this on my own...no help yet
Ultima frame-95 softail--jireh cycles
5 gallon fat bobs
heritage softail front and rear fenders
Ultima trans 5 speed trans case--jireh cycles
Stock harley front end and wheels with fat whitewalls
Mini apes-(I'm short) lol

just basically buildin a stock heritage softail cruiser that looks nice and rides nice...It's not as extreme as some of your guy's bikes but its still a project

Here is what I'm workin with

Doesn't matter what anyone else thinks as long as you're happy with it. Good luck.

Aint nothing like building your own scoot, enjoy every minute and take lots of pics. You'll look back on it later with pride and joy and have pictures to see and remember.....

here is what I used to prep, primer, and paint my frame....I know it's cheap but it turned out great....couple of my buddies think my rattle can turned out better than their pro painted frames...I first wiped down the whole frame with the alchol, then I scuffed the raw frame and shot down four coats of primer...then I waited for that to dry over night, afterwords I scuffed up the primer coat and applied three coats of gloss black...turned out really glossy as well as smooth..no orange peel or fish eyes so I'm happy..I'll get some shots of the frame up shortly...this site will only let me upload one pic at a time from the computer so im gonna try with photo bucket...later

Yeah Baby

Doing Good..

I have painted all my sickles myself by can..
It doesn't hold up as well as the 2-part super paints pros use but so what..

It looks to me that you Did Not build it first in "mock-up" before you painted it..
Usually that's what we do to make sure all tabs/brackets etc are welded on and everything fits,,, but since it's rattle can it doesn't make that much diff cuz if you have to do any changes it's not like you're going to ruin a $1,000 paint job, no biggy..

Jireh is where I do most of my shopping too..

Roll-on Big Daddy, Roll-on Down the Line..................!!!!!

here are a few things helpin me out with my build

so after battleing with the lower steering head bearing race I was finally able to get a lil further...It took me about 20 minutes, a hammer, a punch, as well as a torch...but its always nicer when you put your own sweat into something...I pulled a complete rookie move...I turned the front end upside down to beat off the race and had the filler bolts out of the legs...all the oil came out but oh well I got new oil and now on my way...here is what i have ended up with until I finish my transmission....

Hmmm

I don't like the sound of steering head Race & Punch and Torch in one sentence..
As though I haven't done stuff like that, Ha..

Seriously, you entered a room where you now must get the right tools such as the Head Cup & Race Installation and removal tools,, etc etc..

Looks great Ray,, I got Beer - I'm coming over..
