Default Heartland RockerC converision kit

Wanted to know if anyone out there has done the Heartland Rocker conversion. Looking at buying something and thats the only way I would consider a Rocker. The kit makes the bike look 10 times better.Dont know what HD was thinking about with that stupid looking seat.Just want some feedback on how hard it is to install. Its either this or find a used Big Dog.
Thanks

You should be able to find a used BDM if you want. They are going for mid teens now EASY! BUt beware... BDM = wrench to ride. They are finicky bikes that require constant attention. I know I had one and traded it in for a an 09 Ultra. I also am the #1 poster on the bdm forum and have wrote more How To's than anybody. I still work on at least 1 a week.

But check out the forum

Gas Man,
So with the experince you`ve had would you go with the Rocker? I just really like the pro-street kind of look with the fat tire. Honestly I tried out a Mutt and wasn`t to impressed, the thing vibrated like crazy. I have a 08 Sportster and a VTX 1300 with a 240 kit and both are alot smoother. Thanks for your reply just looking for some good honest feedback.

WOW you are really comparing the whole range.

The VTX is a metric cruiser and wont vibrate like any american vtwin. My BIL has one and its an alright bike but dont hold a candle to many other bikes.

The BDM is a hard mounted motor, that is why it vibrates so much. Those vibes aren't just annoying to you, its one of the reasons these bikes have so many problems. The electronics, bolts, nuts, etc all get hell put to them by vibes. First thing needed on a bdm is re-wire it with a wire plus module. Dumping their EHC is a good step towards realiability. The constant polishing sucks cause most of it is polished billet not chrome.

The HD Rocker while I dont love it, at least it has HD support and realiability. Best of both the above worlds IMO. Price wise if you are looking for bdm looks, you will probably spend more on a rocker to try to get there if you consider buying a used bdm at 50 cents on the dollar.

Ask yourself this... do you want to wrench on the bike every weekend to ensure no problems or do you want the turn key attitude you get with your vtx? If you don't want to turn the wrench constantly get the HD.

No problem. Check out the website and read around. The bdm's are plegued with problems. But its the nature of the beast with the old tech they are using.
