They can add way too much oil before getting any indication on the stick and wonder why oil starts pi$$in' out the hole after a couple miles. Somthing similar on the V-Rod mebbe?

Vrods dont use a oil tank, the engine has a oil sump and the oil goes directly into the motor, also the Vrod does not have seperate primary, engine and tranny oils, its all in one on the Vrods.

I didn't know that! Just like the jap bikes, now that doesn't sound good to me. What good could come from the same oil being used everywhere in the power-train?

If you change the oil when recommended, it really does not matter. Metrics and others have been doing it that way forever with no problems. It does make it nice when doing your own maint. One drain plug and your done.

My last comment on this one, boys. If you're in doubt about the oil capacity of your Harley simply take 2 plastic 1 gal. milk jugs out to your softail and hold them up next to your oil bag and ask yourself - would all of this fit in there? Of course not. I mean we're talkin' almost 2 gal. of oil here fitting into that tank. Sheesh! Sportsters are the same way and hold a little more than 3 qts. but the capacity of the tank filled to the cap would be closer to 4 qts.
I know nothing of the Vrod oil capacity or if that motor is dry or wet sump.

IF you can tie your shoes you can do your own oil change. read your owners man. or have someone who knows show you . save $$ at the same time.you won't have to wonder if it was sucked & overfilled & blown out the breather. one other note syn3 is not a full syn oil. it's just overpriced semi syn.

Default Dlr overfill

At 1000 mile service took 2000 WG for 1000 mile check. Got it back had excessive vibration, took back to dlr said its a harley thats normal, put up with that for another 500 miles and decided to change to Mobil 1 syn and low and behold, I got 3 qts out of crank, 1qt out of trans and get this 2.3 qts out of primary bottled it up and took to dlr he said impossible, I said came out of bike and by the way I have no more vibration. Since than the bike has never been bav to a dlr I do it myself or a frien who is a tech takes care of....
