I had my 1K done yesterday and rode my WG home about 10 miles.
The next day I decided to check the oil level cold and it was way above the full mark for hot oil. I took out about half a quart to get it down to the full mark even though it is supposed to be lower. I read in a forum that the Dyna only needs about 2 1/2 quarts instead of 3 because not all of the oil drains.
I know a lot of people don't like it but I went with Syn3 from HD fossil. The fossil looked pretty good to me but the Syn3 looks darker. I have never seen what it looks like out of the bottle so it may be darker to start with but I cannot believe it would clean that much in only 10 miles on a 996 mile motor.

Spade 5, some dealers don't use the drain plug. Instead they suck it out with a tube, cleaner for them. This is not a good idea IMO. They might have left some old oil in your bike. I would tell them to drain the oil out of the drain plug if they didn't or do it yourself. I could be wrong and do not want to bad mouth them cause I don't know how they changed your oil. Just a warning!
I never have liked the idea of changing oil with a pump. You may not get all the oil out and almost certain not to get that last little bit of grit and filth in the very bottom of the tank. I let that drain plug drip till NO MORE comes out! Another case in point for doing your own maintenance. Sincerely: Shovelmike.
Those suction pumps are made for lawn mowers, equipment, and crap like that. Having used them myself, I can see why they would... those pumps are fast! That doesn't make it thorough, just fast, and the way techs are paid, well, ya gotta be quick.
I have an Evo softail. My tank has a drain tube but I can't find one for the crankcase. There is always old oil left to mix with the new. Is there some thing I'm missing?
You haven't missed anything, 1996. You are entirely correct that there is no drain for the crankcase. There is most likely a dab of dirty oil there that you can't get out except with a CORS system or something similar. I don't think I'll bother with that but I do get the tank as clean as I can- complete drain and occasional rinse out with kerosene as directed by the owners manual on some models.
