Default "Shovel" Oil Line Modification

1982 FXS 80 Inch
I heard that I could Seperate the oil line from the top of my rocker covers, and split it from the oil pump and run two lines, one to each cover using same size line. Have any of you tried it???

I've seen it done, never did it myself, never saw a reason to...
What would be your reason to do it..??

I could see doing it if you were a talented silver solder'er an pipe/tube bender - kinda of a neat way to muscle flex your capability.

either that or you got a thing for plumbing!

I heard that is was better for the motor to run less hot oil to # 1 cylinder. I am in the middle of a top end job now and thought this would be a great time to try it. I was just wondering if anyone has really done it.

Good enough...
I live and ride year long in the Phoenix valley now, as high as 117 in summer... I installed 2 oil coolers and the oil temp stays under 195... I measure the oil and the head temps on the hottest days after the 25 mile ride home, the rear barrel and head temp is always hotter so I don't think that split line will make a diff, but hey, you're on the right track, never be afraid to experiment and back up your findings... I dig it when guys do their own work and experimenting, hell that's how I learned, go baby...
You can barely see my 2 coolers in the photo album... I made the first outa copper tubing while living in Las Cruces, then realized I needed another, from Jireh cycles, after I moved to the east Valley...
