Default 2006 Sportster - Oil around filter

My wife has a 2006 1200 custom and after 4500 miles she is starting to get oil in and around the air filter. I understand it is a blow-by issue (I think!?!?) and am under the impression there is a product out that deals with this effectively. If this is the case, why hasn't HD dealth with it?

Is it only after the bike has been ridden hard? Let say Hi-way speeds above 70 mph for over an 45 minutes?

I know the breather valves in the rockor boxes come loose on occasion. Oil does not get filtered and pukes out. If you get oil in the Air cleaner when riding pretty tame I would bust open the top rocker boxes and see if valves came loose. Put some thread locker on screw and tighten back up to specs.

If all looks okay JPCycles and Dennis Kirk both have breather kits available.

Mine pukes while running at high speed for long periods.

I got a breather kit from JPCycles for my 2004 sporty part# number 4000330. I got a hose from the Auto store to connect from the kit to a Engine breather Oil Collector part#431-335 also from JPCycles.

Breather kit is pretty cheap. Can use a hose off it and direct spray to the ground. The oil collector however cost $122.99. I bought it to contain the spray. Built well and adds a little character. Neat little gadget. I do have to empty it after 2 cold startups. Fills up mostley with water vapor.
