Yeah tommy, I searched from here Southern Miss over into Alabama, north a little bit and West of me (can't go much further south as I'm on the Gulf Coast) and couldn't find crap as far a Spectro was concerned. That's my main mission this time is to quiet the tranny and the shifting.

I'll let ya know how evo's suggestion works out. Just gotta find out what type of mercon-v he is running. From what I can see Mobil doesn't make one. May be wrong though and just haven't found it.

UFB
Mobil-1 mercon-v type ATF...labeled for mutli-vehicle use (Ford,GM,Etc.) avail. at Pep-Boys, Auto Zone and other fine auto supply stores just get off your (uhhh) computer and get out there.

Oh...and buy 2 qts...run the specified amount in your primary for about 100 miles or so...then drain and refill with fresh (only the 1st. time) because as someone had mentioned here (in another thread) the stuff does tend to clean things up in there

Darn it evo- I came back to this thread to say you had made my day until I read your last post.

No really you did man, finding the engine oil and lube gear was a breeze. I found/bought the exact ATF your talking about as well when I was buying the gear lube. The reason I asked is because I was on the Mobil website and didn't see a mercon-v on there, but I found it on the shelf. It will be done first thing tomorrow morning, to darn hot today. Thanks for the info it is greatly appreciated!

Thanks man I appreciate it, but I've already done that. What few local dealers were in my area either no longer lived in the area, or could order it. A guy I work with is a dealer as well, but doesn't stock it.

Hi Un, the way I found the Spectro 6 speed oil was by leaving a message on Spectro's web page, telling them where I was and what I needed. Darn if a rep didn't e letter me with the closest Spectro store which was 5 hours away, however I happened to be in that city a month later. This probably comes too late for you this service, but I do like that oil. Any of the other mentioned good oils are equally as difficult to come by around here, but I don't think most riders are as discriminating as riders on this forum, or so it may appear.

Yeah, UFB...I figured you were "cyber-shopping". I tried looking up this ATF on Mobil 1's site (after seeing your post quoted here) and saw that they listed the stuff as simply "Mobil 1 multiple vehicle ATF"...with no reference to the "mercon-v" that's on the actual bottle label

So,"anywaaays"...my bike seems to really like all the Mobil-1 stuff what does your bike think of it !?!
I'm sure all the "discriminating riders" here will be interested in hearing.

I didn't get the oil in. The guy who's tools I was going to use he had packed them up to take them back to CA, so I called and independent shop and the guy said he would drain the old and put in the new on Sat morning even though we hosting a benefit ride at his shop. I show up ready to rock and he says he doesn't have the time to do it. It is what it is, I'll get in there eventually. Hopefully within the next day or two and I'll let everyone know the results.
