Hey Rock
There are guys here that will assist with your EGC..

BUT-----
Here's 3 links to help with your decision on fluids..
Outa all the OIL reading I've done these are about the best I've ever read..

On this first one,, collapse the left hand menu and then press control and spin the mouse wheel forwards to make the text get bigger..

http://www.sportster.org/tech/Oiland...Motorcycle.pdf

and

Oil FAQ

and

Testing Motorcycle Oil

After you read these articles you can make a better decision and if you do a search you'll find more articles..

We ride almost everyday in the East Valley Summer heat,, where in AZ are you.?
We use 20-50 Valvoline Racing VR1 cuz of the extra zinc..

BTW----The only guy on this forum that is Actually Educated on the subject of Oil is Bluesfan..

I use synthetic oil in my bike. Whether you use synthetic or conventional oil just make sure it's for a V-twin and you should be okay.

Rock,
My Dyna will probably be different than your bike. Take a look and see if your dad still had the owners manual that should give you a lot of information. If not get a service manual either from the dealer or aftermarket like clymer.

Hay Rock, you aint no dummy, I been wrenching on things since the 70's (wow am I that old?) oh, and I had to go get the dern book out to find the engine oil an d the tranny drain plugs. Filling The tranny was easier, the filler hole is a plug on the right side that takes a big 3/8" allen wrench. the engine, well you probly figured that it can go in the dipstick hole. and the primary needs to have the cover taken off and funnel used to re-fill. at least that's how I do it on my '06 Ultra.
I have custom, with an evo that has the engine oil tank under the seat. the drain for that one is a hose that drops down from the tank just about even with the bottom rail of the frame.

Yeah... unfortunately he died of a heat attack at age 42 in nov of 07. Because of the woman (ill keep it clean) he was married to at the time, all i got was his 2 harleys and his tools. One of the bikes still had about 6,000 left to be paid on it. But im cool with that because riding motorcycles as all we really did. He bought me my 1st bike when i was 14 on my birthday and taught me how to ride. i would ride that bike all over the place and hope not to run into a police car. And rode my 1st harley when i was 16..

RDF... I just did the service on my 09 ultra. I took lots of pics and made some easy step by steps. I will get everything posted this weekend if you can wait. I have to get some time at home to do it.
