| | neck bearing grease Harley says to use their Special Purpose Grease 99857-97 in my neck bearings. I have a 2004 Road King Classic. At $10 a pop and barely enough in a tube for one time i hope there is a better way. How about it? |

| | Re: neck bearing grease I use Valvolene Dura-Blend semi synthetic grease and have for years now with good luck and no issues at all. Used it on my Sporty's and my Electra Glide. Clif |

We just don't see clifo2 on here enough.. Hi Clif..
And a very good recommend..
Any good Waterproof Wheel Bearing grease will do as long as it's Not tooo heavy, no more than a NLGI #2 rating..

| | Re: neck bearing grease You don’t want it too thin either otherwise it will ooze out at the top and bottom forever. |

Not a good idea, but I find most people ignore them forever. |

| | Re: neck bearing grease Does the Road King have the grease zert, like the Softails?
I know some of the Dyna don’t.
I hit mine every 5, 10 k or whenever I think of it. Quote:

| | Re: neck bearing grease Interesting story I heard on the internet, so I am sure its true. A guy gets the idea of adding a zert to a older Dyna, so drills the hole, puts in the zert, and starts adding grease, three/four tubes latter he thinks it should be filling up, looks under the bike and it is coming out under the transmission.

| | Re: neck bearing grease Thanks for the info. I had a 90 Heritage and took it in for a blown fork seal and to grease the steering head bearings. The dealer in Fl. drilled and added a zerk. Harley didn't come out with them till about 97. Buzz i grease the neck about every 6000 miles, just before i leave for Florida in the fall. I live in a mobile home park in the winter and am not supposed to do any work on the bike there. |

| | Re: neck bearing grease On my 07 FLHTC every 5k when I change the eng oil, tranny fluid, primary oil, and spark plugs. I hit the zerk with the same Quaker State grease that I use to grease the front end of my old truck and I have no complaints after a short 3 years.

| | Re: neck bearing grease I use a Mobil 1 Synthetic Bearing grease. The dealership I found out didn't grease mine at the 1k or 5k servicing. So I did the 10k & 20k greasing myself per the Service Manual. I put in a 90 deg angle zerk fitting since the orginal zerk pointed straight out and was almost impossible to use.
