Lonedog, I am running an oil cooler that has an adaptor that bolts to the existing oil filter mount that opens at 185 degrees and then goes to the oil cooler, you need some heat to get rid of the condensation that will happen with engine heating and cooling as in a cold start and a good ride. You need at least 185 degrees to do this. As for a guage, can't help there. Frisco---bottoms up.

P.S. Lonewolf the oil goes the filter when the adaptor opens then the cooler.

on my 08 ultra there is a plug in oil pan on front side. I put my senser there & I read oil temps as good as it can get.

Harley sells a dipstick that reads both oil level and temperature that you can view from the outside top of the dipstick when you push a button. I have found this to work very well, and it gives you the actual oil reservoir temperature.
