Default Shop manual question

Ready to start work on a 48 Panhead. Its been a long time, wish me luck. I already ordered Palmers "Restoration" book. What is a good service manual to get?
Thanks, LF

You can still get reproductions of the factory manual.

J&P Cycles show service and parts manuals available for '48.

Lethal Farce...have you ordered your repo manual yet. Got one still in plastic wrap from Antique Cycle Supply that I will sell to you cheap. PM me if interested...

Couple of other books you might consider in addition to Palmers. Greg Field's book on Panheads, and Vol 1 & 2 of Kirk Perry's manuals on 41-59 OHV big twins.

Hey Panz4ever. Thanks, but, already got it. Thanks for the heads up on the others. With all these books, it looks like I will be doing more reading, than riding or wrenching.

And you might want to check out the Crustoration series we are running in American Iron Magazine followng what we did to my 1948 Panhead. It was a heck of a lot of fun and the bke runs great and gets plenty of attention now.

Buzz, I did. It was a great article, and am anxiously awaiting further installments. If you can give more detail on Dales "flame age-ing" and other "Crustorizing" specifics, it would be great. I had planned on a total restoration, and now think a fresh motor/tranny, with a long lost, right out of the barn look will be kind of cool. When is the next Crustoration article?
