Default Highway Pegs

I know it is not a burning issue but for me it is important. I have had 4 or 5 different set ups on my bike - haven't liked any of them! Because of the back issues I have - I need to straighten out my legs from time to time on rides. I do have the lowers on my Ultra - so I need something that looks good. I don't like the pancake things from Kuryarken (SP) - I want something that when it is folded up that is doesn't look stupid.... understand I have been fiddling with this since I bought the bike in July.

HELP!

Well, I'm not really sure what kind you have tried and what about the looks you didn't like about them. I have lowers on my road king. I bought the Harley Chrome Billet Engine Guard Footpeg Mounting Kit (94133-01) because it looked better than the three piece chrome clamps. I have them angled ever so slightly inward and mounted higher to fit my short reach. With this slight angle they fold up tighter to the lowers from the front and work and look great to me, but that is a subjective statement. Of course they are mounted to the outside of the engine guard instead of how Harley always shows them on the inside like they suggest for non fairing lowers bikes. Now, I have seen various offset mounts that can be used for less reach or more reach depending on what you need and which way you mount them. But for me, mine works and the mount looks good to me and I live with it.

I'm happy with the setup on my E-Glide. It has lowers, and I use Kuryakyn Tour Tech Cruise Mounts w/ Dually Pegs. I have them mounted at the bottom of the crash bar, just before the bend. I can use them like standard highway pegs, and I can also put my bootheels on the floorboards and my toes on the highway pegs...lots of movement for the long rides. I like the Dually pegs because they have a flat profile on top and are a little wider than a standard footpeg for more foot support.

I also have a set of Kuryakyn adjustable passenger pegs added to the passenger floorboards. Cathy can put her feet up and it gives me the ablility to kick my legs back on her boards for another riding position.

Hope this helps.

Rick

Each his own. I like mine but you may not. Rap thick rubber around the chrome before you clamp down the pegs. You will not have to tighten down as hard and it will not scratch the Chrome. 3M makes some two sided heavy stuff that you can barrier between to prevent scarring.

The search for highway pegs continues - I have seen a few but I still don't like the look. I think when I go to Bikeweek - I am going to make an effort to get some pegs. I may have to compromise but that might be OK - if I can find something that looks good and provide the relief I need for my back......and the beat goes on.....

You see the problem with having a HD Parts and Acessory catalog - I start looking at one thing and end up buying something else... the search goes on. For now - I just stretch the leg out on top of the engine guard............

The oil cooler goes on this weekend... had to order the fairing mounted oil temp gauge so that will go on next weekend......
