Default Helmet locks

I am one who sometimes rides without a helmet. But, since I travel across the country I am forced to at least have a helmet with me to wear for the states that require them. One thing that Harley has not included on my bikes is a helmet lock. There are all kinds of ways to lock a helmet to a bike. Harley even sells a helmet lock that mounts to a tube of varying sizes. But although I have installed one on my Dyna it really only looks good if it is mounted to the large front down tube leaving the helmets dragging the ground upside down. So, in search of a place to mount one and a helmet lock besides the Harley one I found something that worked out great for me on my Road King. I had some leather saddlebag strap locks purchased at my Harley dealer for some leather bags that I had at one point years ago. With a little modification I mounted these locks to the bottom of my chopped tour pac on my Road King and they work very well leaving the helmets resting on the saddle bags locked and secure. In the past I have used everything from pad locks to cable locks but I like this new project with these locks I completed today and they are not really seen and will come in handy for those times when I have to leave helmets with the bike unattended for short times. Since Harleys don't include helmet locks, what method do you guys use?

I use a device that bolts in behind the license plate using the same bolts. Has 2 locks, works out great as I ride 2 up. Got it at J &P cycle.

I've been using a pair of smith and wesson handcuffs... police issue, you can get em for 20 bucks a pair, i figure to get them off would be difficult to most would be thieves and they hold very secure. There are also a lot of mounting options with em, i usually strap the helmet to the sissy bar.

I leave mine dangling above the seat strapped to the sissy bar. If someone wants a ol used helmet so be it. If a theif wants something they will take it. Cuffs can be snipped in seconds.

I use a long shackle padlock, put the helmet on then double it up as a disc lock.

Are you a Zep fan?
I was totally into them about 15 years ago but now at 61, I don't listen as much. Now days I listen to the pipes on my Wide Glide. They are stock but still do it for me.

Have a good one from Houston, Texas

I think spade is still watching Zep, in his mind

I leave my helmet on sissy bar, no lock, if someone wants it take it. I only wear it where the law applies.

Is helmet theft an issue where you guys are from?

Chris L's signature is the title of a Led Zeppelin song or most likely is anyway.

Spade5 I'm with you on the Zep and the pipes. Both make great music!

If you have ISO grips, Kuryakyn makes some nice endcaps just for the purpose of being a helmet lock.
