Default Fiberglass Saddlebags

Has anyone put fiberglass saddlebags on their softail deluxe? Curious to see how it would look.

Hi "fat99boy"

Welcome to the forum. Best I can do for you is to suggest you scroll down here,to the Hard Streets advertisement below...and, click on to it,for a few examples of their stuff. That and "HarleyCruiser" (member here) has images of his bike/modifications in current thread running,as well as in other threads here.

Fat: Any reason for the Fiberglass bags? I like the look of leather myself wears well with age and they strech a bit.

FLH bags on a Softail pretty much looks like a Road King. Depending what brand of adapters you get. It is a nice look.
Some of the kits mount closer to the bike than others. Some offer quick disconnect which is nice.
Gator bags offer bags with actuators on them, but they are not cheap.
There is one problem with the bag adaptors, the FLH bags have areas that are made to fit around the FLH shock, so you loose a lot of room in the bags for that. Personally I would learn to do glass work and cut that area out and make it fit closeer to the Softail and make my own adapters.
I think the Gator bags are flat on the backs.
Corbin’s also offers some nice glass bags for Softails.
As for the leather vs the glass, I have a lot of respect for JCourneyaP, and have always used leather, but after running glass bags there is no going back. Here in Florida leather is a constant battle to keep nice. We get a lot of rain, and mold is a constant problem.
Always oiling them, cleaning them, taking them off putting them in the house when it is raining for more than two days in a row so that they can dry.
Glass bags keep their shape, just plain easy maintenance.
Yea not the look of leather, but not a bad look.

Default Fiberglass Saddlebags

Thanks for the feedback.

I suddenly like the fiberglass bags vs. leather. I've looked at Milwaukee Bagger bags, Bad Dad and Gator. They are $$$, but I like my softail deluxe, which reminds me of my two favorite bikes a 1999 Fatboy and 2002 Road King Classic. As soon as it gets warm enough here in Chicago to take a long ride I'll go up to Milwaukee Bagger in WI and Bad Dad in IN to check out the shops myself. I'll post pics when I decide.

Appreciate your feedback.
