Default Looking for Legroom Options

I have an 07 Heritage and while I like my floorboards I can't seem to get comfortable on laying my right foot off to the side to avoid resting on the rear brake pedal.

I've see 3 options I am interested in
  1. Extended /EZ Brake pedal
  2. Cruise Arms (MK III/IV)?
  3. Engine Guard with highway pegs
Questions:
  1. Would getting an extended Brake pedal really allieve foot fatigue on longer 300+ trips?
  2. Do I take a greater chance of wrecking by digging a Cruise Arm into the pavement? ( I've ground off about a 1/4" of trailing edge of my boards)
  3. With either Cruise Arms or highway Pegs, is the knee fatigue associated with using these?
  4. What about getting to the rear brake from Cruise Arms or Highway Pegs?
  5. Other options? Can I move my boards forward from stock without custom fab?
Any info, Opinions, Recommendations would be great! I what to be sure before I drop cash on something

Thanks

Dan, it seems like you've already answered your question. Even though I don't ride a bagger, it seems that an engine guard with adjustable pegs would be the way to go. With that set up, you'll get a pretty noticeable difference in leg position, a lot more than just twisting your foot on the boards. I guess it all depends if you like the look of an engine guard on the scoot.

The EZ Brake will give you more room to move your foot around on the right board while still having the brake quickly accessible, removing the heel section of the shifter will buy space on the left.
The engine guards with highway pegs will let you stretch your legs when the traffic situation is such that you feel comfortable with them up there.

Thanks Hammerhead,
You right, I'm not a fan of an engine guard but if I have answered my own questions then I won't be happy with an extended brake pedal and I liable to take a chunk of asphalt out with the Cruise Arm... bummer

I thought looking at a smaller brake pedal but looking at the wear marks on the OEM pedal I using the the outer half regularly...

I guess I'm down to an Extended Pedal or the engine guard with pegs.... I think I'll try the pedal first. Let you know how it turns out.

Dan

Dan, I have an 03 FLSTC with an engine guard and pegs. 300 miles is easy. With the different styles of guards and pegs if the pedal doesn't work out, you should be able to find something to suit your needs.

So I bought a Küryakyn™ Extended Brake Pedal and mounted it up last weekend. The girder style really looks good. I am suprised at room it gave me. When I compared it to the stock brake pedal it didn't appear to be any longer but the curve of the arm put the pedal closer to the board which opened up some room. I noticed that I wasn't continually moving around on the footboard other than hitting the brake when needed. Next I am going to try out some footboard extenders. Küryakyn has a set that moves the board forward 1" and out 1". It dosen't sound like much but I am really close to the front on these so thinking that will be enough. I am hoping that I don't lose alot on my lean angle since I have already ground down the outside edges of my boards.

Maybe this is normal? My last ride was a Kawi EN-454. (Little brother to a Vulcan) and it didn't have boards.

Ya know, that helped me on my bmc. I used the foot peg adapters that extended them out 1" and forward 1". I went from being limited to 200 to 250 miles a day to over 350 miles a day! one draw back is that they do drag a bit, but this bike is already way close to the ground. If you do drag, just be ready and be aware that your foot can come off the board and hit the ground,. good luck, and have fun!
