Lightbulb Chubby Apes on '09 Street Bob

Has anyone tried putting 1-1/4" apes on an FXDB with the integrated risers? I'm almost positive that the fork caps are in the way, but why can't the forks just be dropped down some to allow clearance. Could dropping them a 1/4" make a difference? Also having trouble finding some black apes. Anyone have any ideas?
