Default Auxillary Brake Lamp

Does anyone have any experience with the auxillary brake lamp that mounts to the sissy bar? I purchased the lamp mainly because my beautiful wife is finally going to start riding with me, and says that she'll feel more safe with it on the bike. I'm interested mainly in ease of installation, and does it really work?

Thanks for any input!

It is the duty of nations, as well as of men, to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions, in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon; and to recognize the sublime truth announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the LORD.

They work fine at illuminating when the brakes are applied,if thats what you're asking. Any extra light,in theory, should make you more noticeable, but when it comes to coffee drinking, cell phone using, slack jawed, mouth breathing cage drivers who can say?

Hey Bob ... I haven't installed it yet, but will this weekend. I'll keep you posted about it. I did discover that I needed to also purchase a bracket that sandwiches between the backrest pad and the sissy-bar. They don't tell you that you need it until after you open the package and read the destructions ... oops, I mean instructions. The bracket number is 59545-04 if you go ahead and do it.

Chip, I don’t have the setup like you are talking about, but do have the ultra bright LEDs in my fender.
I had hopped they would help let people see me, what I was not expecting is how much better they don’t seem to be tailgating especially when I am stopping.
I haven’t changed my stopping practice, flash the brake handle a couple of times, then slow long before I need to, make sure they are backing off.
And the extra lights really do make a big difference.
Guess it wakes them up.

Just a reminder to down shift as you're braking. It not only helps to slow you down...but also gives you "options" when you look in the mirror (also highly recommended) and see that the guy behind you has his/her head in their butt for one reason (cell-phone) or another.

Lights be good,though...the more and the brighter the better...within reason,of course.

I met a rider who had just taken delivery of his Root Beer paint job '09 Ultra. He had the l.e.d. auxillary brake light installed pre delivery. It's very bright and attention getting, it'll help give you a fighting chance out there.

I'm having a heck of a time trying to get 3 pin connectors to release from the wiring harness. Any suggestions?

I run LEDs but added to running lights down near the pipes. I can(i did) hook it up as a brake light also...Any law about a yellow lens for brake lights. I know Red is for brakes etc but this yellow lens mounted low sure gets your attention at night when you brake.

don`t know if it.s a law but don`t care. i put a stop run control on my ultra. didn`t change my yellow turn signals. haven`t been stoped yet but who knows the cops here aren`t the sharpest tack in the box. wife saw me getting of the highway said she could see them way back. that was enough for me. keep it bright back there.
