GPS on a scooter?! For shame... What happened to the sense of adventure? Tongue firmly in cheek Not flaming anyone.

"Getting lost" is a big part of why I ride. I look at it as a way to experience new areas, see new things, and spend even more time with my wife on the bike. I take a map with me, to find neat roads in new areas and that's it. I don't even take a watch because when I'm on my bike I don't care what time it is. Yes, I have a clock on my cell phone but that stays in a saddlebag for emergencies.
The wife and I load up on Saturday mornings point the bike in a direction and go til we feel like going in a different direction.
I believe if we had more limited riding time a GPS wouldn't be a bad idea, but for now, no need.

Yeah, I study maps the evening before a ride, I take a map with me, but the challange is to go for it without taking out the map.... I have it there for a safety net.

You don't need to get lost to find new places. How does one get lost if they are going off a map? Better brush up on them skills!! I use a GPS to find new places and routes. And If I was to get lost..........Well.......After I have my fun I can find a way to where I need to go. I don't have days or weeks to just wonder around in the jungle lost. Sometimes I need to get back Toot Sweet to get my kids or go to work. Oh and if you do need medical help or someone else needs it........Your GPS coordinates will get them to were they need to go alot quicker. Not all new technology is bad..........

I remember totin that ANPRC77 on my back with a huge supply of fresh batteries along with rope, ammo and other gear. F.... Ill take a cell phone any day!

I still however do things the old way to brush up on the skills just incase one of them Sattelights fall out of the sky or reception is none.

PRC77? Heck I repaired those bad boys when I was in the Army. I was a 31V10, Tactical Communications Operator/Mechanic.

I have used Fromotion products and would highly recommend them...

Hi, Gas Man
Thanks for the Marlin link. But unlike the rest of the guages etc they offer that compass is one UGLY sucker. In fact, shape wise, the first thing that came to my mind was how "Flying Saucers" were depicted in the old '50s Sci-Fi flicks knowhutImean !?!

I use my bike as a compass. Just stick a finger in the air... (the same one I use for cagers)...and look at the shadow. If i know about what time it is...then it will show you approx North......

better than having a 50's style ufo landing on the handlebar
