Default Custom Harley Seat

Got mine, handed to me personally by Buzz at Maxton.
He also took off the AIM hat on his head and gave it to me, how cool is that.
Next time you guys get invited you better come.

HarleyCruiser, What type of seat and mounting bracket do you have on the bike in the photo? Where did you buy them from? I am looking for an old type solo seat to put on my 1995 Heritage Softail.

I bought the seat on e-bay, it had a cheap vinyl seat cover on it and paid about thirty bucks for it. The seat pan was very heavy and the pad was very comfortable.
I then took off the cover and made the one that you see.
It is real thick leather, and the horse is carved in it.
The seat is very comfortable, the springs take a lot of the road vibration out of the ride, however because the seat is so small, it does get pretty hard after about two hundred miles, and after three, you can feel the horse blinking.
I have done five hundred miles on it but by then Old Paint is "REALLY" biting at your butt.

It really was not as hard to do as it looks.
I printed out the photo of the horse on a printer, then glued the paper photo onto the leather then carved through the paper and the leather.
The springs and front mount I bought on e-bay.
The frame that the seat mounts on that makes it quick connect I made out of one inch x 1/8 flat stock.
There is a lot of information about this on my build.
Go to the bottom of the page post 180.
Softail Bagger
I had bought a solo seat mount on e-bay for sixty bucks but never liked it, because it is so hard to take off.
If anyone is interested it is for sale, I think there are photos of it in the build.
It is very nice but like I said it is hard to take off put on.
it fits 2000+ softails.

The Shadow made me do!

Somehow it didn't seem to be part of a joke or thread about stickers any more. Hope you don't mind.

HC

I was at a flea market, came across a table with a 3" diameter soup can full, i mean stuffed full of leather stamp tools. I reached for it, and then hesitated thinking the guy was gonna want a fortune for it. the next guy grabbed it...asked how much and the seller says $20. buyer then says.wood-ya-take $12. Seller says "yup". it still makes me mad today, that I missed out. at approx $10 each or more for them, that little can was worth at least $400 easily.

But with leather, after the tools are in the hands.... the hands gotta have talent, seems like you got that talent.
so, do you take orders for seats too? I am not in the market, but just wondered.

Hey Uncle, yea would like to find a deal like that.
I have been picking up tools one at a time. I am pretty lucky; I have a Tandy leather shop owned by a local guy that is real easy to deal with, willing to share ideas.
The small tools cost seven buck apiece, not to bad if you buy one at a time, that and where I work they have a bunch that I have access to.
Leather work does not take a lot of artistic talent; you can trace your Patten onto the leather then just follow it.
You can use a pattern from off the net, or from an old piece of leather. I am going to use a combination of smaller patterns to make up the big pattern.
Knowing were to use the different stamps is the hard part, but pretty easy to learn.
You have to "See what you are carving, know that it is in there, kind of like wood carving."I am still in the learning process, my carving is pretty basic, more like carving wood, but hope to get better.
I posted some about this in my build thread, sure you have seen it.
No I don’t have any desire to go into the leather seat making business.
Way to much work for what it pays, maybe if I got faster.
