Default "grip glue"

I purchased and installed a set of kuryakyn iso grips for my FLHT lasy year, and today while i was out, the left side grip was starting to move around. its now to the point where i can almost twist off the grip. i was wondering what the procedure, and products should I use to correct this. any specific glue? if this is not the approriate forum i apologize. thanks in advance..

I experienced the same thing with the stock grips on my Ultra, especially when the weather is really warm. The inboard end is captured under the switch housing, thus not likely to pull off, but disconcerting just the same. I tried hair spray which works well for foot peg rubbers but didn't do the trick for me. What did work was to wrap a few turns of electrical tape around the bar to tighten things up. Friction tape would be an even better choice, but I used what I had on hand and it worked well.

shovel, thank's for the tip, but it didnt appear that the inboard end of the kuryakyn grip was not under the switch housing (espcially since the grip moved over an inch away from the switch housing while riding). The moving grip on the left side was SUPER distracing, and made me realize that no matter how cool i think exile's bikes look, i doubt i could focus with the twist clutch. i'll try some tape and get back to you! Thanks again!

Damage. Are you saying the left side grip "Clutch Side" was not under the switch Housing? Was it suppose to be? Did you get the correct grips to begin with? Kuryakyn should mirror the OEM stuff and install pretty much the same IE under the Switch Housing. Hmmm

I use clear epoxy, it comes it two bottles, or in the two plunger tubes that mix it as it comes out.
This stuff works great not only for this but anytime you need a clear adhesive or something to seal or fill an area.
The slower cure time is stronger and gives you more work time so only use the fast cure when you need it.
You can buy it in any hardware store, or lumber yard.
Oh yea, make sure you clean the area first, with Alcohol or acetone.

J- yeah i was able to twist the left "clutch Side" grip away from the switch housing, and I know the Iso grips that i had on my sportster did go into the switch housing, but these ones don't. i wonder if it has to do with the removeable end cap for my air over hydraulic schrader valve in the bars.

H-C.. thanks. i know just the stuff you are talkin about and will pick some up. after i clean the bars, should i run some emory cloth over the bar to scuff it up for better adhesion?

My left grip was doing the same thing. I used clear silicone to adhere the grip to the bar. It worked real well. And I didn't use so much that I can't get it back off with just a little effort if need be.

I used dish soap, the grip slid on nice and then the soap dries and becomes very sticky.

Super glue works better than anything else I've tried over the years.

No I never have, just clean it first then coat both the inside of the grip, and the bar, then slip it on.
This stuff really works, takes a pretty strong hand to twist them off when you want to take them back off.
I have tried the hair spray, dish washing detergent, super glue, silicone, and the handle bar glue.
All loosened up on me after a while.
You know the drill, bike starts to tip over and you grab the bars real hard, next thing you know the end of the grip is twisting just a little then next week the middle of the grip, then your grand son gets on the bike pretends to be twisting the throttle (doesn’t know left from right, yet;-) and the whole thing is spinning.
The epoxy is about the best semi-permanent stuff that I have used.
And it is handy stuff to have around the house.
