Default Removing chrome bar

Can the chrome bar for the license plate on an 05 Road King Classic be removed without harming the removeable backrest docks?
I relocated the license plate, and want to clean up the rear fender area for the new paint job.

Not for sure about the answer on this one, but I sure would like to purchase that bar when you do remove it. I have a 96 Road King that had that bar removed and I can't find one anywhere.
