Default Amazing New 2009 Harley Chassis

Having ridden the new 2009 Harley Ultra and swapping out with a 2008 Ultra for comparison, I can report the new 2009 chassis is night and day better than the older one.

Full report on it in the new issue (September) of American Iron Magazine.

This new frame, swingarm and rear wheel is on all the 2009 FL Touring models.

This is long overdue but most welcomed. Really making the touring models world class. I think it's the biggest news in the 09 line up. I'm glad it works as good as it sounds, thanks for the report.

Is the swingarm attached to the frame or is it still attached to the tranny? Maybe I missed something in the article. Botz

The article didn't state how the swingarm was mounted as far as I saw, Botz, but I'm fairly certain it would still have to pivot on the back of the trans to keep the drivetrain vibration isolated. Hopefully the rear of the trans has a stabilizer link which has been needed for years to prevent rear steer.
How was Mountainfest? Hopefully a great time there and great ride to and from.

Default 2009 Tech Upgrades

ShovelMike,

How are ya? I answered my own question by finding this link. http://www.box.net/shared/58lay4sw8k

It seems to me the swingarm on the tourers now mount through the frame and the tranny. If Im seeing this straight that should be a serious improvement. Botz

Let's hope that new tech works its way down through all the bikes, and soon! I hate hearing, "...and it should be availbe on all models by the second coming of Christ, or the next 50 years, whichever comes sooner."

Read the article in the magazine. Got me thinking about going for a test ride to check it out myself. Not because I don't believe it, but because I just want to experience it myself.
