Default Suspension Service Aim 12/8

Just read the story about suspension service in the December 08 issue. The author states that the fork oil for a 2002-2005 touring model should be changed at 20,000? My service manual has the oil being changed for a 2004 Electra Glide @ 50,000?

Now that I think about the dealer suggested that they would change my fork oil at the time of the 20,000 mile service!

I thought the dealer was just looking for some extra work?

Default Fork Oil Service

Remember fork oil gets dirty from dirt making it's way thru the seals as well as water. All oil needs to be changed on a regular basis to keep the damping consistent and to prevent dirty oil from wearing the internals out. Also going to a little heavier fork oil will increase the damping of the forks (usually desired on most Harley's).
