Default front end rebuild

I have a 93 Fxr with a softail front end, single disc. Does anyone know if I need a special tool for replacing the oil seals in the lower legs? I bought the kit with the bushings and was going to tackle it but have never done a front end before. Seems like I heard someoen say there is some kind of special tool for compression of some sort, I am guessing seating the seals and so on. Trying to look through myold mags to see if there was an article on it. Thanks for the heads up.

ronhrs,
You will need a proper fitting sleeve to drive the new seals into the lower legs. They sell the tool in the catalogs, (CCI, Drag, Jireh, J&P, ect) or you can make one out of a piece of PVC pipe.
It should fit closely around the fork tube and fit inside the top of the lower leg.
You drive the seal in with a slide hammer action only in reverse.

the only other tool you need (only to make thinks easier) is a small spreader for the retaining clips which are located just above the seals. you may as well put in a set of progressive springs while you have it all apart.
