I had the same problem with my Road Glide. Basicly, the bike is not meant to ride fast in turns.
My solution was to sell the Glide and buy a BMW.
I dont regret it one little bit. The BMW is a far better designed machine. As I explain to others I meet on the road, "it's effortless riding".

All the big FL’s share the same front end geometry (steep steering head angle) that makes them prone to high speed wobbles. Stay under 75 mph or install a steering damper.

Things to consider - other than buying a Beemer!
1 - tire air pressure
2 - passeneger or baggage weight
3 - chassis alignment
4 - swingarm or steering head bearings

take a look at these items, I bet your answer lies in one of these areas. I could see a steering damper helping, but my 91 evo bagger never has a problem - probably cuz it has never seen 90!!

The BMW is by all acounts a better motorcycle.

The BMW is a better motorcycle. Period.
There is no comparison to the HD bagger.
It's goes fast without ANY motor work, the brakes are secong to none. Hell, I cruise at 90 all day long without a single problem.
Like I said, no regrets.

If you find HD to be an inferior machine to the brand of machine you favor - why you are visiting a message board that is focused on V-Twins?

You are certinaly allowed to have your opinion, but dont speak in terms of absolutes, because in my humble opinion BMW is certainly not a better bike - by any measure - so lets call it a draw - you've got you opinion - and I've got mine.

but you wont find me visiting bmw msg boards and sharing that opinion

have a fine day Rich

Any day I can ride my bike is a fine day Steve.
I didn't mean to get into a pi$$ing match with you over which bike is the best.
Lots of folks visit the BMW msg boards and both rant and rave about the HD's.
I don't think my opinions are going to change the bottom line there in Milwalkee.
I will try to behave.
I will try to behave.
I will try to behave.

Actually,I am a HD Tech that lives in Germany. I found a solution to the high speed wobble. Loosen up the steering head bearing to 2 swings. Harley built these bikes for American highway speeds not for the Autobahn.
Oh and to RichM...I'll run you for pink slips anyday. My HD against your Beemer. I must warn you, I already beat 3 beemers and 2 Hyabusas. So bring it on.

What do you mean by "run me"? You talking 1/8 , 1/4 mile? How about we "run" each others HD's for pinks? 1/4 mile from a standing start.
Mines a 4 cam V-twin,a sportster type bike.You already beat 2 Hyabusas ? Gimme a break.

All I was saying from the beginning was that you buy a HD which is actually a slug from the factory.i think we can all agree on that. Then you need to spend $$$ on parts and work to get the potential from the motor. The brakes a junk, so you need to spend some dough on upgrading them also. If you serious about riding ditto in the shock dept.
Or....buy a BMW and hardwire a radar detector and your ready for the road.
I wonder if them Hyabusas's you beat were aware they were racing you or maybe you just blew by them at an intersection and called it a race ?

I'm trying to behave here, I swear I am.

Perhaps you are not meant to ride a barge like a roadking into fast turns RichM...
Every rigid frame big-inch harley I've built in the last 29 years will drop down in a turn sweet as can be,,with no wobble at all if all the adjustments are correct...
Even though you sound like a pompass bitch RichM, I do sorta agree with you about this...
Sissies should trade in their Harleys if they only want to push a button, don't want to up-grade to fit their wants and dreams, and brag about their love for a machine built in a socialist paradise... I'm glad guys like you usually don't ride HD's, it would give the rest of us a very bad image...
We've all seen your kind before bubba, you tie a white sweater around your shoulders wear topsiders with no socks and watch cooking shows...
Go ahead sweetheart, don't behave, don't behave, don't behave...
