Default Faring

Withing the last 5 months, AIM had an article on replacing some bulb located within the faring. The article also listed the steps to remove the fairing and I said "you better cut out that article." dang it I didn't and the "downloads" section of this forum stopped at 2001.

My question is: what is the procedure to remove the fairing?

Unless it has changed from 03 and I take it this a batwing fairing, this should help. Get a blanket and put over the front fender so you don't scratch it. Take the screws out on the top front of the fairing, just below the windshield, then go to the inner fairing and you'll see two screws, one on each side of the fork legs. There may be two more above that on either side. Once you have all the screws out, go to the front side and pull away slowly. You might have to disconnect the wire to the headlight if the fairing is in your way, but it should rest on the fender. Hope this helped

I like it when wanker calls folks "maroons" ! What's up, Wanker!
Anyway, that's good advice on the manual, (manula) plus you'll have the info when there's no one to ask! Pricey, I know, but if you do a lot of your own work, it'll pay for its self quickly.

The $58 for the manual is less than the $70 for 1hr the stealership would charge you to change that bulb!
