I know you can powdercoat pertinear anything, but looking at my stock lower fork sliders they almost seem to have a small amount of texture to them. Would it be possible to have them powdercoated? Would it be worth while to have stock ones powdercoated? I don't like the dull aluminum look they have and have been unsuccessful at finding a set of matte black/black denim lower fork sliders for my Night Train. Since mine have a little road rash on them my intent is to find a set of stock take offs and have this done. Just wondering if anyone else has any thought on this.

You can p/c your lowers, no problem. Just did mine this winter. Most shops will charge 75-150 for a set. Being you want matte black it will probably be on the lower end of that price range. Most of the cost of p/c is in the prep. I've been doing my own for the last couple of years. What I did this winter would have cost about 1500, my cost for supplies & electricity is about 200. All I've left to do are my rocker covers & some misc. bolts and then it's back on the road.
Dennis, are you using the Eastwood kit? What kind of oven are you using?

Yes I'm using thier hobby gun kit. I'm hoping to upgrade to a better gun soon. Bought the wife a new oven and recycled the old one for my use. Sorry to make it short but I'm getting ready to head to work.
When you get a chance I would love to hear more, and know everyone else is interested.
Got Photos?

One of the other biker mags did a powder coat do it your self a couple of years ago.
The pieces looked pretty bad even in the photo. Lots if orange peel, not a lot of shine.
Sure would be nice to see AIM do a feature, of how to in your garage.

All I've ever coated were lead jigs. I really want to black my entire bike out, a winter project would be cool.
I read that article and that's what got me started. I get alot of my info from the Eastwood forum, great bunch of guys there. I have done a few custom pieces for other bikes, but most of my work has been personal. This is the second time I've torn mine down for p/c, changing colors. Here is the first piece I did for a friend, it's one of my favorite.
