Question Comfort Flex seat

Hi!
I read from service manual there should be some spacers between seat and suspension assembly. Does anybody know how long the spacers should be? From the manual: "install the short spacers at the rear of the seat and the long spacers at the front"

There is no picture or any lengths given...

I'm restoring '79 FLH-80. I bought the bike 9 months ago and so far I have just tried to find some missing parts. Bike is in quite good condition (original paint, decals, wheels, probably tires too ) but of course some small stuff has disappeared during the years.

It's not desperate project and I don't have to hurry. I have my rigid Panhead as a daily rider!
If you know any good website showing old AMF shovels, please let me know. I haven't seen too many sites devoted to Old Shovels!
I'm also going blog my progress with the bike but that's an other story and I'll let you know if anything happens...

Looks like you have a very nice bike there, JARI. I'm of no help since my Shovel is a FX. Great old bikes!
Someone is sure to jump in here with the needed info regarding spacer length.
Ride safe and God bless, Sincerely: Shovelmike.

I dont get any royalties from them but I sure use this site alot and recommend it when ever anyone needs a quick look at a picture of the parts breakdown for thier bike, and dont have the manual, yet.

1979 Harley Davidson Motorcycle Parts for FLH-80, OEM and Aftermarket at BikeBandit.com

I have found it very helpful in the past. Hope this helps.
of course it probably dont give spacer lengths, so maybe someone on the forum here has one and can help with that.

According to the parts manual & my own fuzzy memory there are no spacers between the seat & the bracket it bolts to.There are two different spacers listed in the parts breakdown, but they are part of the pivot assembly.

If you can wait until tomorrow, I can dig out the old ComfortFlex seat out of my stash and look at the spacers, maybe even take some pics. It came off my '77, should be the same as your '79. But it will have to be tomorrow, if that's OK. Send me a PM as a reminder......

Hi Bigincher!
Sorry for the delayed answer, I've been away for some time. I'd appreciate pics if it's possible to have.
If you can put them here somehow, please do. If you want to email pics to me address is jari.salmi@gmail.com

I just found original luggage rack from German eBay. It has "pillion pad" on it if I decide to convert my bike to a solo/police version some day

JARI

p.s. Panhead is now ready for the road and now I finally have more time to concentrate to Shovel!

My project shovelhed is moving on: I found NOS headers and mufflers! Not cheap fun but now I can be sure they sit right. I also found a seatpost and a couple of accessories I was looking for.
I have almost everything I need except time to finish... On the other hand we have usually 6 months long winter here so I should have me a fresh ride next summer!
