So this prob is new,, that's what you mean..????? How did you check the manifold seals.. Are they O-Rings or Rubber-Band type.?
Does it do this only while idling like you said or does it do it also while running down the road.?
Does it start easy.. Does it run down the road real well.?
The timings weights don't go "off"..
However they need a wee maintenance periodically..
I've also had springs break which will cause Very poor idling/running..
This could be carb or elect..
If it was my prob I'd spray the manifold to head and carb to manifold connections first,, to eliminate them..
I would also check batt & charging..
If you suspect the points and/or weights simply remove them and check the weights springs and lightly lube the weight posts and the teeensy contact points the weights ride on and the center timing rotor post..
When you get this motor running correct, consider timing it correctly while running..
