Too much wind in your face! I traded my 1200 Sportster last year for a Softail Deluxe. I have been very pleased with the difference in the ride quality,if not the general handling.
Yesterday,on the way to the first annual "Jessie's Ride",a charity ride in aid of victims of child abusers, the bike sprung a leak in the rear tire. Undettered,I hopped on the back of my buddy's machine and scooted back to his place to borrow his Sporty, (good guy huh?) We made it on time and had the cops as outriders, holding up traffic at lights and intersections. There were over 100 bikes in attendance,it was some sight. Anyway, off we went, hit the highway and the whole group hit around 65-70 mph. There was quite a breeze and how I didn't loose that Sportster in the crosswind is a miracle. It was hard work hanging on in the group and at the end, only about 30 miles to the half way point,I asked my buddy if he had the same problem on his Lowrider. Not really he said, and all the folks on the baggers looked at me sideways. I've forgetten how much work it is to keep hold of that lightweight at highway speed in a stiff breeze. Is it me, or has anyone else had the same experience? |
