Default Evo vs Buell for kit bike

I'm looking into building a "kit" bike using an Evo motor/tranny. Several mfr's list different kits, some geared towards Buells, but I've been unable to find out the differences between an Evo and Buell motor in terms of mounts, tranny options etc. I don't know squat about a Buell. Any info would be appreciated.

Hey Eli

Except for the Buell 1125 and Blast all Buells are based on the "Evolution" (Evo) Harley Sportster engine. Buells have high performance internals to begin with as opposed to the much milder stock Harley Evo Sportster engines. In other words Buells come with an already souped up Harley "Evo" Sportster engine. A lot of guys (and some chicks) just buy a complete low miles Buell Lightning (90hp) or Cyclone(80hp) and put the engine/tranny right into a chopper frame. Instant go fast! Add a little chrome here and there and you have a hot little chopper or bobber. No engine mods needed. You can pick up a good complete '98-'02 Buell for $3000- $4500. Personally I'd keep the Buell stock and just ride it. Very cool little bada$$ bikes.

Yaaaa hooooo I just checked craigslist for my area.... and found a wrecked 2000 buell for $800 the only real damage is the front end...... and a salvage title... but for a parts bike.... of course it aint a "good" complete bike as milindh described.

milindh,
Thanks for the advice. Sounds like using a Buell powertrain will save me some money on power upgrades. Kinda like a big block in a small car scenario I guess.
