Question fork oil

how often do you change the fork oil?? and how do you do it?? had the bike about 4years now and haven't had it done. until i found out the shop i was going to wasn't doing a satusfactory job i had them do the work now i want to do ALL the work on my scoot. i also want to look into adjusting my primary chain, i checked the fluid and it seems like the chain has too much play in it, prob close to a 1/2in. you can hear it kinda ratteling when you first start it.

Hi, tat
We're all here to help with whatever whenever we can...but ,the BEST advise given to every new D.I.Y.'er here is to invest a relatively few bucks in a FACTORY shop manual for YOUR make/model. It'll tell you EVERYTHING you need to know about how to maintain, repair or rebuild your bike the RIGHT way...and save you more $$$ than you paid for it the 1st. time you open it. Oh...and don't "chinse" on the Clymer or Haynes ones...'cuz those guys publish "tech-text" for everything for all kinds of stuff and I've found the info and/or diagrams for the WRONG whatevers mixed up in just about every one of their books ever used.

Ditto to Uncle's recommendation on the Harley Service Manual. You'll find everything in there, and you'll also find that routine maintenance is pretty simple stuff.
